The active camo ability can be very fun to play around with in Infinity's matchmaking system. You may think that it is only useful for sniping or camping purposes. You are only partly correct.
Active camo can really get you out of sticky situations as well as useful for sniping/support, as well as offensive attacks. I'll go over each of them, one at a time.
Unlike the hardlight shield and thruster pack, active camo cannot be used in such a way to escape instant-danger situations. If you get caught in those, you're screwed.
But say you're running away from a losing fight, and you're being chased. Jump off a cliff or go behind cover.
Stop. You now have one or a few seconds when you're out of sight from the enemy. Crouch, and turn on active camo. This makes yourself near-invisible and turns on the radar jammer.
Being invisible means one of two things. Either your opponent will completely miss you, or will miss you for a split second until noticing you're right there. In either case, this is advantageous to you. This opens up options like rushing them with melee or by firing back.
If you've just jumped off a high spot and your opponent is chasing you, the jammer can misdirect your enemy whereas you could just be sitting still, not giving away your position.
Active camo is obviously also a good utility tool in support roles, such as long distance sniping or just suppression with long-range weapons like the DMR.
Before you start firing on someone, turn it on, and it may take your opponent a second longer to find where they're getting shot from. Or after you kill someone, turn it on a sneak away to hide yourself from your prey's friends.
On another note, active camo is great for base defense Since you won't be moving much in the base, the enemy shouldn't be able to detect you with their radars coming in. Flip on active camo and they'll really just walk right past you!
Finally, when you're attacking someone or assaulting a base, active camo will make it seem like there are more Spartans around, which would misdirect them. This is great when you actually are attacking in numbers. Or maybe you can see that some red dots are coming close to your yellow ones. Turn on active camo and crouch walk to their flank. Let the firefight erupt and then make your booming experience to cause massive damage to your foes.
Just flip it on whenever you feel like danger is near, and it can make a hefty difference on who's the victor!
